Abrade – scrape or wear away by friction or erosion
It’s hard to tell if what was captured, first image on Sol 82, it is at the time of Sunrise or Sunset. On the current raw images, there’s no time stamp attributed to it. To give perspective, on Sol 82 mid spring on Jezero crater, Sunrise on Mars is at 5:44:36 AM. While, Sunset is at 6:33:11 PM.

On this batch of raw images, get to see how Perseverance rover’s robotic arm get down to business of scratching the surface of those science targets. Grinding the surface using drills and abrading those sample carefully for further analysis and characterization is one of the key aspect of its mission in doing Astrobiology on Mars.
See how the streaks of scraped surface, on a rock. It clearly shows some abrasion. Though mostly covered with sand, you can tell that it was subjected to erosion with the combination of sand the Martian breeze over time. Just like a sculptor, on each stroke is chipping away the surface to create a masterpiece. Enjoy the video above and of course you can still see them in still frames below.
