NASA’s newest Mars rover is beginning to study the floor of an ancient crater that once held a lake
For almost a month, Mars Perseverance rover had been an instrumental linkage of the success of the helicopter Ingenuity. The technology demonstration was full on display and executed properly with Perseverance as the base station in documenting the historic powered flight on Mars.
Now that, the helicopter just started its operational phase, Perseverance rover is now embarking for himself the core mission. Which is to be an Astrobiologist… Scouring through the rocky terrain of Jezero crater. Once believed to a lake on the distant past and possibly teeming with life. Looking for those ancient life and the traces that this dried lake bed once hosted is at the very core of the rover’s mission.
Spent almost 80 sols since landing, Perseverance rover had more that enough to prepares its systems for the great challenge of “turning” stones and zooming on the pores of the surface of those science targets. Characterizing its component and running analysis on its formation, deciphering the vary nature how it was formed, search clues of the water once flowed on this ancient crater. Video above are compilation of the selected images captured on Sol 79. You can still enjoy the still frames on the table below.
Pictures are worth thousand words. So, I’m just sharing all photos as captured by NASA Mars Perseverance Rover currently on the Red planet. Photo, crawled using NASA API. Really helpful delivered to my inbox. With additional steps, reflected the structured table into this post. Here’s how you can go back to the technical on how we crawl these raw images as Percy streams it to NASA lend us with the API
